Forces in Mind Trust looks back at impact and change in 2023
Forces in Mind Trust takes a look at the impact and the influence of the Trust’s activities on the transition of ex-Service personnel and their families. The report highlights policy work, public engagement, and evidence generation across the Armed Forces.
In 2023, we awarded £1.7million in funding to:
- Understand cohorts with specific needs within the Armed Forces community.
- Inform the effective delivery of the Armed Forces Covenant
- Support veterans’ mental health
- Examine the modern transition experiences of Service personnel and families
We published 11 reports in 2023 providing evidence to:
- Help develop better support for widows
- Improve transition support to veterans in Scotland
- Ensure families are supported with their financial stability
- Inform the development of the Ministry of Defence’s life skills programme
- Develop a potential new treatment for moral injury
Michelle Alston, Chief Executive of Forces in Mind Trust said,
“Forces in Mind Trust is proud of the change that we have helped affect since our inception in 2011. This year, we have continued to provide the funding for a solid foundation of evidence for improvements in transition, advanced treatments for ex-Service personnel with moral injury, and helped councils implement the Armed Forces Covenant.
Working with others has been key to help achieve change, whether with charities, Government, researchers or many others across the Armed Forces community, and we will continue to do so to work towards our goal of a successful and sustainable transition for all ex-Service personnel and families.”
