Impact
The pilot and evaluation of the Futures Horizons Programme, a programme which supported early Service leavers (ESL) who left the Armed Forces in the first four years, or compulsorily, proved to be successful and helpful for ESLs on their journey to civilian employment. The evaluation recommended that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) should adopt the model for ESL across all three branches of the Armed Forces.
The MOD saw the success of the programme and in 2015, embedded it within the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) resettlement package. This resulted in ESL, who have been shown to be a vulnerable group during transition, being eligible for employment support, something which was not available before the Future Horizons pilot and evaluation. The programme continues to provide support to ESL and is currently delivered by RFEA, The Employment Charity together with CTP. Further information can be found here.
